Painter of shapes and colours, chronicler of plains
An artist that has accomplished with his creativity to combine his carpentry workshop skills and deep affection towards nature and landscapes of his region, the beginning of his painting started in the year of 1953 when he drew a sketch for an inlay for a marquetry, that captured the eye of famous painters – Jonaš, Paluška, and Sokol. Immediately they recognised his talent and invited him to become a member of their artistic society. He was concentrated on shapes and colours, and his creations were deeply rooted in the landscapes of Kovačica. He painted his prairie not only as a background but as a living element of his work. His paintings are not just displays; they were meditations of the world around him, a plain that was quiet and at the same time full of life.
