Katarina Kožik

Art with roots in folklore tradition

Katarina Kožikova created art that was genuine and simple. In accordance with traditional naïve art, her work was deeply rooted in folk tradition, customs, and everyday life. Compositions that she created without redundant details and movements carried flat but strong characteristics. Her paintings, often without tinted colours, were quiet but clear witnesses of life. Dominant motives in her works were folklore, especially love towards folk costumes that became a key part of her style, reviving tradition with every movement.
