Jarmila Cicka, born in 1993 in Pancevo, is a Serbian artist whose creative adventure has been enriched by various experiences in art and design. Growing up on the famous Banat plain in Kovačica, she had the privilege of spending her childhood in an artistic environment, under the strong influence of her father, the renowned naive painter Pavlo Cikka, and other recognized artists, such as Zuzana Veresky, Pavel Hajko, Martin Marko, Sava Stojkov , Zuzana Chalupova, Jan Bačur and many others.
Already in elementary school, her teacher noticed her talent and took her to her first art competition, where she won first place by painting a human figure. Although she loved to draw from an early age, it is ironic that what is today the center of her artistic expression - the human figure - was the least she liked in her childhood. Life, as she says, often brings paradoxes, and her artistic journey is a perfect example of that.
Jarmila took her first artistic steps as a radio and TV presenter at the local TV station RTVOK during primary and secondary school (2007-2010). Then she enrolled in the Technical School in Pančevo, and later in the Technical College of Vocational Studies in Novi Sad, where she graduated in 2017 with a degree in Graphic Design. Although she planned to continue her career in Slovakia, at the persuasion of her professor and her father, she stayed to finish what she started, which turned out to be the right choice. She completed her specialist studies in 2018, which was a significant step in her artistic career.
She avoided human figures in her work for a long time, but through a task inspired by Milan Rakić's lyrics, she found new inspiration in the research of the female figure and cubism, through which she began to express the subtle layers of female emotion and social roles.
Her creative collection includes close to two hundred works created in various techniques, and the artist expresses herself most often in the silence of the night, in her room, which she has converted into a small studio. She often writes down her inspiration in a notebook next to her bed, because for her, ideas are something that cannot be put off.
The COVID-19 pandemic brought her an opportunity for introspection and dedicated work, where she devoted herself to design and painting, expressing herself in different techniques and exploring digital art. She participated in many international painting colonies and was a guest at several joint exhibitions, including her father's celebration of 40 years of creativity, where she presented works in the style of Cubism.
In 2022, she held her first solo exhibition entitled "Belle Ame" at the Chalupka Cultural Center, which explored different aspects of the female soul through a combination of traditional and digital media. She secretly entered the world of naive painting and digital naive painting, where she shows her works with a hint of shame.
Jarmila's work reflects not only her authentic vision but also the strong influence of the artists who inspired and shaped her.
Also, she directed her creativity and passion for aesthetics towards graphic design. Her experience includes creating visual identities, advertising materials, medals, web design and other projects, which further deepened her love for art and aesthetics.
Through her work as a graphic designer, Jarmila expresses herself through creative compositions, colors, typography and visual elements. She also acted as a content creator in the Serbian fashion industry, enriching digital platforms with her unique content. Her skills have expanded into areas such as photography, video production, writing and social media management.
This rich experience further enriched her artistic perspective, giving her a deeper understanding of beauty and aesthetics in the digital and painting world. As an artist who combines tradition, modernity and multimedia versatility, Jarmila continues to explore and create, leaving her lasting mark on the art world.
